When I was in elementary school, my favorite time at school was when I talked and ran around with my friends during recess, the long break after lunch.

「run around」は、「走り回る」という意味です。あちこち忙しく動き回る様子を表現する際に使われます。

この表現は、日常生活や仕事の中でよく用いられます。例えば、会社で多くのプロジェクトを同時に進行しなければならないときや、子供たちを学校や習い事に送ったり迎えたりする忙しい親の様子を表現するのに使われます。また、緊急の用事が重なって、あわただしく場所を移動しなければならない状況でも使われます。
