go up は「上昇する」という意味で、人や物が上に移動するだけでなく、物価の上昇や株価の上昇、気温の上昇など、さまざまな状況で使用されます。

類似の表現としては、rise や increase があります。これらは直訳すると「上昇する」や「増加する」という意味です。go up が比較的日常会話で用いられるのに対し、rise や increase はややフォーマルな文章などで用いられます。
